lurks there

from surrounding mud, rock and ice
but only microbes with crust
My serpentine trace is in front of me

2017年大学做书课的作业。因为最近在用旧电脑，加上申请书展要看过往作品，所以又翻出来了。（申的是abC上海场，过的话欢迎大家来！）
当时输出远大于输入，做到下半学期已经憋不出足够撑起一本书的故事。于是我想了个偷懒的办法，选现成的诗或者根据随机词自己写，再做成书。《Seafloor》是后者的产物。这种方式使得我当时的书大多是“气氛型”，空洞、浅薄、言之无物。好像说了什么，又什么都没说。（P.S.如果遇到这类感觉的作品应该警惕，“气氛型写作”往往意味着作者写不出扎实的故事…）
现在不管是作为读者还是作者，对“气氛型”相当厌倦，也失去表达个人情绪的欲望或需求。所以才会做了《通假字》那样的书。一来它说了具体的事，二来没有那么多情绪，即便有也不只是我一个人的。对现在的我来说，那样的内容更适合成书吧。
回到《Seafloor》本身，哎，横看竖看都是问题。首先贯穿整本书的动态是从上往下，开头倒下的“I”和最后流动的“the molten sea floor”都可以看出来。但，这本书的装帧是最最普通的胶装，翻页顺序是从左往右，导致阅读过程中这个flow被不停地打断。我现在想不到懒以外的其他理由。 视觉就不说了，一直都是死脑筋。延续到《通假字》还是这个毛病，能用简单视觉讲清楚的绝不复杂化。（给别人做设计的时候完全没这毛病…）
毕业的时候把大多数作品都扔了，照片也没拍。这本是我当时认为art book里最好的一本，所以存了档。实体记得带回国了，因为很小不占行李，现在大概也找不到了。
回想起来有很多遗憾…… 但彼时缓慢下坠的我好像能站得住脚一些了……
