手眼协调(Eye-Hand Motor Coordination)是一项重要的认知能力,它是包括人体接受视觉信号、视觉中枢处理视觉信息、大脑皮层接受信息并作出决策、运动神经传导出指令、手部肌肉接受运动神经元控制并收缩以及最后的动作完成等一系列复杂生理过程的综合能力。手眼协调能力代表着个体结合外部视觉信号并快速作出动作反应的水平,在运动员、系统操作员等等方面的培养起到重要作用。
Green 和 Bavelier进一步开展了动作游戏对空间视觉注意力的相关研究,他对比了玩家与非玩家在空间视觉与注意力任务上的表现差异。Greed设计了两个测试:一个是侧边范围测试、另一个是计数测试。侧边范围测试需要受试者在外部干扰下,准确地指出随机出现在6个位置的2个目标点;计数测试则需要受试者经可能快地记录下来迅速闪现的测试点数量。实验利用有效视野范围(Useful field of view,UFOV)来评估受试者空间注意力分配/容量水平(即能够同时注意更多目标点的能力)。最后实验结果显示,玩家组的表现完全胜过了非玩家组,这也意味着玩家们可能有着更大的注意力容量、注意力范围以及更小的注意力盲区。[18]
Agne Suziedelyte与2015年的一项研究中发现了电子游戏对儿童青少年认知能力发展的影响,研究者用Child Development Supplement to the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID-CDS)系统进行测量,其中成就测试得分用来评估玩家认知能力变化,包括数学问题推理能力以及英语单词阅读识别能力。实验结果显示电子游戏对儿童青少年的问题解决能力有着明显积极的影响:每天每个小时的游戏时间能够增加数学推理能力标准值的9.3%左右,这个效应已经和每天每小时额外课堂教育的效果等同。研究者认为电子游戏对问题解决能力的影响是最明显的,是一个值得关注的补充性认知能力练习方式,同时电子游戏对儿童青少年的影响也会提升其对家庭环境的接受度。[44]
